MA AL-AHROM, Demak — Will this year’s 59th Scout Day celebrate with joy or vice versa? Commemoration of Scout Day is not a celebration of the anniversary of the Scout Movement, with various activities carried out full of fun. But to recall an event that had occurred on August 14, 1961. During the handover of the Scout Movement Banner from Ir. Sukarno (First President of the Republic of Indonesia) to the Chairman of the First National Quarter, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX.
Scout Day 14 August 2020
This banner is a symbol, a mandate from the President to the Scout Movement. A sign carried for the Scout Movement to educate the young generation of the Indonesian nation to become young people who have character and have the personality of the Indonesian government. Also, sign to start the struggle for the Scout Movement of the Republic of Indonesia in the future. This means that on that date, the state gave a mandate to the Scout Movement to struggle to educate the nation’s children so that they could advance the character of the Indonesian nation and state.
The commemoration of Madrasah Aliyah AL AHROM Scout Day 2020 is indeed different from the previous year. Usually, the scout day MA AL AHROM always carries out Scout Day with Ceremony. Commemorating the 59th Scout Day, Scout MA AL AHROM does not have any activities usually held when on normal days. But it does not deny that the Scouts MA AL AHROM, namely Jaka Tarub and Dewi Nawang Wulan, can educate the younger generation who are tough and big-spirited in the face of all challenges, have discipline in acting, are unyielding to face obstacles, and always care for others.
Having a tough character and a disciplined spirit is what the State and Nation need to deal with the current Covid-19 outbreak. Experience during this Covid-19 outbreak, we are also invited to see the importance of science and technology. During a pandemic like this, knowledge will master technology, especially smartphones/computers, and the internet is crucial when carrying out online learning. That is why MA AL AHROM students are encouraged to master science and technology and are supported by infrastructure in the form of a Lab. Computers that madrasas and extracurriculars have provided are Office Applications and Graphic Design.
The Scout Movement is indeed an activity that should be important and required to shape the character or identity of the Indonesian nation for the younger generation during the Covid19 pandemic era. It is necessary for us as MA AL AHROM students to continue to be disciplined and have a demanding spirit in practicing health protocols by implementing in daily life as an Adaptation of New Habits that we must follow to break the chain of the spread of the Covid-19 virus in our environment and area.
Happy Scout Day….
