The livelihood system is constantly developing according to the circumstances and climate and the development of civilization. The early livelihood system is often referred to as the food collection economy. The development carried out today is basically efforts carried out to improve the welfare of both material and spritual. One form of development activity is industry. Industrial development in addition to being carried out at all levels is also carried out in various regions in Indonesia. This leads to areas that used to not know the industry as jobs or life, now have the possibility of growing into an industrial area with all its positive and negative consequences, which will then bring about changes in society.
Industrial development must be implemented because the long-term agricultural sector is already unreliable, because the agricultural sector is still influenced by the natural sector. Industrialization helps people create a living and has stimulated dairy products to take off their tradition-oriented way of life, as well as encourage them to connect with the outside world. In addition to industrialization also helped create the division of employment among the people of the Village.

Brebes are a potential area in the manufacture of salted eggs. As the center of salted egg production, Brebes actually has historical roots that are not released from the culture that gave birth to the skill of making snacks such as salted eggs themselves. In the sense of the skill of making salted egg food in Brebes has been inherited naturally or hereditary so that the manufacture of salted eggs combines with the livelihood activities of some of its people that continue from one generation to the next.
This salted egg business is growing and is well known not only by the Brebes community but also by people from outside the Brebes area. In general, the salted egg industry is a home industry that is closely related to the entrepreneurial spirit owned by the local population. This condition directly actually has considerable potential to help address people’s living needs.

Initially this salted egg business was done hereditary and pioneered by some locals as a part-time business. With their skills, they have the idea to preserve eggs to be durable and have high economic value. Their skill in processing the salted egg industry is not only so, but requires a long process. At first they only boil duck eggs, but the results are not durable. With creativity, they can produce salted eggs based on duck eggs that are durable, have quite high nutritional value and selling value.
It is from this situation that some serious people pursue salted egg business with household and hereditary industries. There are several that sparked the first salted egg business in Brebes namely In Tjiauw Seng and his wife, Tan Polan Nio. He was the first person to develop a salty teur business by marinate (boiled). Then as the era progressed, the salted egg industry brought up new ideas such as baked salted eggs (Burn, Oven and Smoke). By becoming salted egg entrepreneurs, at least they are not limited by the seasons as well as farmers, and the capital is not as high as the capital required by farmers.
The salted egg industry in Brebes is wide enough that there are various options when looking for the quality of salted eggs, although people’s tastes vary, salted eggs that are rated high quality have characteristics of reddish to bright orange egg yolks, “dry” (if bitten does not secrete liquid), does not cause fishy odor, and salty taste does not sting.
The development of the salted egg industry in Brebes is mainly driven by the availability of adequate raw materials and easy to obtain. In addition, geographically and economically Limbangan Wetan District Brebes sub-district is the administrative area of Brebes Regency. The geographical location of the fertile Brebes sub-district is mandated by the community as agricultural land. Most of the people of Brebes sub-district have livelihoods as farmers. They mandate rice fields as land planted with onions and rice. This situation also supports the economic activities of the community in addition to farming, namely breeding ducks. During the rice harvest the local people herd ducks in the rice fields where ducks get food from the rest of the harvest so that the availability of duck eggs affects the climatic conditions and agricultural activities that exist.
Brebes sub-district has several villages as salted egg producing areas, namely Limbangan Wetan Village and Brebes Village. Both villages are famous for producing superior salted eggs, although there are other villages that produce salted eggs, and this village is a pioneer village of salted egg making, this area is also well known as a central producer of salted eggs and is a village that has a considerable number of salted egg craftsmen in other villages. Both villages are also located in urban areas and are transit routes between West Java and Central Java, so rame is visited by the community. In addition, the two villages are also quite close to the duck farm area as the raw material. The well-being of the surrounding communities is improved by the growth of the salted egg industry, the income of the region singed, and also helped in addressing the problem of considerable labor absorption.

The Beginning of Manufacture Duck Salted Eggs
The manufacture of salted eggs is a work that has long been known by the people of Brebes Sub-District. The business of making salted eggs is a hereditary legacy of ancestors. Before the community pursued the business of making salted eggs most of the community worked as farmers. At first the manufacture of salted eggs was only as a side job after returning from the rice fields, but because the results obtained from this work is quite large, then the activity of making salted eggs is more in demand of the community and growing rapidly until now.
No sources have yet said a definitive year when the industry will begin to expand. From some sources, especially other sources that the authors get, it can be explained that it is difficult to determine when the exact year of the start of this salted egg industry. However, according to one salted egg entrepreneur Emmry Yuniaty, the early existence of the salted egg industry in Brebes District was estimated in 1959, first pioneered by a Chinese indonesian named In Tjiauw Seng and his wife Tan Polan Nio in Brebes Village
The salted egg business began to develop around 1959 with its main pioneer In Tjiauw Seng. The science of salted egg making was developed in Brebes Village. The idea of establishing this business was based on the high public interest in salted eggs, the abundance of duck eggs in the Brebes region and the accustomed brebes people making salted eggs to hajatan as a complement in the hajatan dish (blessing). In Tjiauw Seng’s efforts were assisted by his son and neighbors. It is in this way that the manufacture of salted eggs decreases in the child and his neighbors.
At the beginning of its development, the large family of In Tjiauw Seng has not faced obstacles in collecting raw materials because there are no rivals, so the eggs of ducks as the main ingredient of salted eggs are easily obtained and the price is very cheap. In terms of marketing initially salted eggs are peddled very simply, that is, by being peddled from house to house, traders go around delivering eggs. At first salted eggs are produced on order only. This entrepreneur has not dared to open a specialty store that sells its salted eggs, let alone expand its trading business. This is due to the unstable economic condition of In Tjiauw Seng. In Tjiauw Seng died in 1971, then his efforts were continued by his first son Hartono Sunaryo.
The small industry of salted eggs in Limbangan Wetan Village, Brebes sub-district, is constantly experiencing ups and downs, both in production and marketing. This is seen with the many people of Limbangan Wetan Village who are working on salted eggs. People began to pursue the manufacture of salted eggs by looking for market areas to market the production of salted eggs.
Brebes sub-district is the capital and the heart of Brebes Regency has an area of about 27,278 square km. As the center of brebes sub-district is very easy to dijagkau because in this area there are facilities for transpotation infrastructure that is smooth and adequate in the form of provincial roads using the Jakarta- Purwokerto and Bandung- Tegal- Purwokerto highways as well as the Jakarta-Semarang train line. The location of this startegis is very profitable for entrepreneurs (the founders of the salted egg center) because in this area there are facilities and infrastructure transpotation smooth and adequate.

Looking at the location of Brebes and Limbangan Wetan villages in the middle of Brebes city, it can be said that the area of Brebes Village and Limbangan Wetan is a strategic area that supports in the economic activities of the community especially for the development of industrial sector because it facilitates market access. In addition, these two villages are quite close to duck farm areas as raw materials such as Randusanga Wetan, Randusanga Kulon, Kaligangsa Wetan and Kaligangsa Kulon and Limbangan Wetan are also duck breeder areas.
The salted egg industry can be said to be an industry that tends to be managed by families, so in the managerial system or business management is held by the family which includes production activities e.g. marketing, workers, to foreman production. Therefore, they generally strengthen the family’s potential for further regeneration. Based on the strong potential of the family owned by each salted egg company, the stronger the company in competing with others. It motivates managers and workers to provide better quality of work and production. Such conditions encourage the growth and development of the community economy because it will thus provide great growth to the social system of society.
The entrepreneurship of the people of Brebes sub-district in addition to being able to help the economy itself and families can also increase the capacity of the workforce so as to reduce the problem of unemployment as well as the drivers of the populist economy. The entrepreneur’s entrepreneurial mental attitude in developing his salted egg industry is perseverance and tenacity in work caused as a family livelihood. The industry is also a hereditary industry that is retained by generations. In addition, they strive to innovate new salted egg products. With creativity the community is also able to develop a very varied taste and manufacturing technique that can attract salted egg enthusiasts. With this creativity is expected to increase the business of salted eggs and regional image and be able to compete with other small industries.
